Woman, 30, suffers horrific injuries after being hit by car
A woman was rushed to hospital with ‘potentially life-changing injuries’ after being hit by a car in Salford[1]. The smash happened on Cromwell Road, near the junction with Jockey Street, at around 4pm yesterday afternoon (Saturday). Police said a black Volkswagen Golf R collided with a 30-year-old woman – a pedestrian.
Emergency crews were scrambled to the scene and the woman was rushed to hospital. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police[2] said she suffered ‘potentially life-changing injuries’.
The driver – a 27-year-old man – was arrested on the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He remains in custody to be questioned by detectives. After the crash yesterday afternoon, a stretch of the road was cordoned off by police[5] with drivers being urged to avoid the area. Parts of Seaford Road and Lower Broughton Road were also taped off as investigations were carried out.

Officers in Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now urging any witnesses to come forward.
