Woman arrested after car crashes into parked vehicles and wall

At 5.40am today, officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Bridle Road in Eastham. The road was closed in both ways while emergency services dealt with the incident. It was reported an Audi was in collision with a parked Corsa.

Damage was also caused to a wall and two other parked vehicles. A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and is currently in custody. An eyewitness told the Globe: “I woke up about 5.30am and heard the crash.

“I looked out and saw a car had hit the wall. It was frightening. “If my car hadn’t been on the path it could have been a lot worse.

I hope the driver is ok.” A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service said: “Crews were called to a Road Traffic Collision (RTC) on Bridle Road, Eastham this morning. “Crews were alerted at 6.02am and on scene 6.11am, with two fire engines and the Search and Rescue Team in attendance.

“Crews arrived to find a car had collided with a wall. “The car remained on all four wheels and the driver was assessed by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). “Firefighters assisted in removing bricks from the damaged wall and after further assessment from NWAS fire crews removed the roof of the vehicle and used a long board to remove the driver safely from the vehicle into the care of NWAS to be transported to hospital.

“Fire crews left the scene in the hands of Merseyside Police at 8.03am.”
