Woman charged in deadly June crash near Ridgetown: Chatham-Kent police

A woman has been charged nearly six months after a fatal crash near Ridgetown, Chatham-Kent police say. Article content Officers were called to a two-vehicle crash on Victoria Road at Gosnell Line about 1 p.m.

June 17, police said. Article content One driver, Barbara Bondy, 60, of Chatham, died at the scene, police said.

Three other people – the other driver, their 13-year-old passenger, and Bondy’s 60-year-old passenger, who was flown to a London hospital with serious injuries – were hurt. Bondy’s obituary said the longtime Pioneer Seeds employee was known as “Pioneer Mom” for taking others under her guidance. She was active with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and always willing to try any craft.

“Barb loved life,” her obituary said. “She was energetic, positive and the life of the party. Her kind and gentle spirit will forever be missed by all who knew her.” A Chatham woman, 32, who was not named by police, is charged with careless driving causing death and two counts of careless driving causing bodily harm, police said Friday.

She is to appear in court Jan.
