Woman crushed between two cars at Aintree retail park as driver arrested

A woman was crushed between two cars in a crash at Aintree retail park.[1] Emergency services were called to outside M&S and Next at around 11.40am on Wednesday, December 6. At the scene they found a woman had been hit by a Ford Kuga and was trapped between two vehicles.

Police put a cordon[2] up surrounding the crash and closed some of the surrounding roads while they dealt with the incident. The woman was freed and then taken to hospital. Merseyside police[3] confirmed that she suffered non life-threatening injuries.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and driving a vehicle while unfit through drugs.

Officers confirmed he has been released under investigation. A spokesperson for Merseyside police[6] said: "A Ford Kuga was in collision with a female pedestrian in the car park of Aintree[7] racecourse retail park. The pedestrian was trapped between two vehicles.

"She suffered non life-threatening injuries and taken to hospital to be checked over.

The male driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and driving a vehicle while unfit through drugs.

He has been released under investigation."
