Woman dies as car hits lamp post and fence in Allerton Bywater
A woman has died following a car crash in Allerton Bywater. At around 3.35pm, a black Dacia Sandero was involved in a crash on Highfield Drive. According to West Yorkshire Police, the driver of the car, a woman aged in her 50s, was travelling on Highfield Green towards Highfield Drive.
They believe she suffered a “medical episode” which led the car crashing into a street light and wooden fence. The emergency services were called. However, the driver was pronounced dead a short time later.
West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses or video footage following a fatal road traffic collision in Allerton Bywater yesterday. “The collision happened at around 3:35pm on Highfield Drive and involved a black Dacia Sandero. The female driver was travelling on Highfield Green in the direction of Highfield Drive when it is believed she suffered a medical episode which resulted in the vehicle colliding with a street light and wooden fence on Highfield Drive.
“Emergency services were called to the scene and the driver, a female aged in her 50s, was pronounced dead a short time later.”
