Woman ‘stole van carrying 10,000 Krispy Kreme doughnuts at petrol station’
A woman has been charged with stealing[1] a delivery van packed with 10,000 Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The vehicle went missing from the petrol garage in Carlingford, Sydney, on November 29. Police found the vehicle – along with thousands of spoiled doughnuts – abandoned at a car park one week later.
And the 28-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday following an investigation. CCTV footage of the incident allegedly shows the woman lingering at the service station at around 4am (local time) on November 29. Since her arrest, the woman was refused bail, and faces charges including vehicle theft and driving while disqualified.

The woman goes inside the unattended delivery van and then drives away in the clip, police claim.
It is unclear if the person who took the van knew it contained 10,000 doughnuts. Krispy Kreme reported the incident to the police and reassured customers then that it was “working to replace the 10,000 stolen doughnuts”. Speaking at the time, a spokesperson for Krispy Krewme said: “Police are currently searching for the van and the sweet-toothed thief.
“We are happy to advise that customers who were intending to purchase or who had orders placed at Krispy Kreme Charlestown will be able to get their doughnuts, as stock has already been replaced.” When a Waitrose employee ate a doughnut from the supermarket without paying earlier this year, he was dismissed for theft.[3] David Graham, 28, said he needed a “sugar hit” during his shift and thought there was no harm in eating the treat as it was being chucked away. But he was put under investigation and fired from his position at the supermarket in Poole, Dorset.
Speaking at the time, Mr Graham said: “Throughout my time at the store, I have been disheartened by the level of food waste that was generated that wasn’t offered to charity or the employees.” Waitrose said it has clear rules in place about employees eating stock and it donates whatever food it can to charity.
