Woman taken to hospital after car overturns on A19 near Boldon in South Tyneside
A woman was taken to hospital after a car overturned on the A19. The incident happened on the northbound carriageway near Boldon[1], in South Tyneside[2], on Wednesday morning. Emergency services arrived in the area and the woman was transferred to hospital for treatment to injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening.
The road[3] was closed while emergency crews were in the area. It was reopened around an hour and a half later, after the vehicle was recovered from the scene. A Northumbria Police[4] spokesperson said: “Shortly after 10.50am on Wednesday (December 20), police received a report of an overturned vehicle on the A19[5] northbound near Boldon.
Officers and emergency services attended the scene. “A woman has been taken to hospital for treatment on injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening. The road was closed to allow for the recovery of the vehicle, and was reopened to traffic at around 12.25pm.”
