Young road crash victim dies from injuries

A 20 YEAR-OLD man died from injuries sustained 11 days after being hit by a car in Wellesbourne. Daniel Livingstone was struck by a Volkswagen Golf on Bridge Street and carried some 450 metres along the road at around 9.30pm on December 14 Daniel, who was from Wellesbourne, passed away from his injuries in hospital on Christmas Day.

His family is currently being supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer. Police are keen to speak to the driver of a car who they believe could help with the investigation. A Warwickshire Police spokesperson said: “We are looking to talk to the driver of a grey Peugeot 2008 (post-2021 model), who we have reason to believe may have witnessed the collision or the events immediately preceding it.

“If you are this driver, or if you know who this might be, please contact us as soon as possible citing Incident 319 of 14 December.” Following inquiries, a 34 year-old man from Leamington was arrested. Two people who allegedly misled investigating police officers – a 60 year-old woman from Leamington and a 37 year-old man from Warwick – were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The woman was also been arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer.

All are currently on bail pending further investigation.
