2 dead following car crash on Interstate 490 in Cleveland
CLEVELAND, Ohio – A man and a woman died in a car crash Monday on Interstate 490 in Cleveland, police said.
The accident took place about 5:50 a.m. on I-490 West, just west of East 55th Street. Authorities identified the two victims as James Wells, 45, of Elyria and Shalon Barnett, 37, of Cleveland. Wells was the driver of one of the cars.
Barnett was a passenger in the other vehicle, according to police and the Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s office.
That car was driven by a 34-year-old woman.
Paramedics pronounced Wells dead at the scene.
Barnett died at MetroHealth Medical Center.
Police did not reveal the exact cause of the crash.
Cleveland police’s Accident Investigation Unit will handle the probe.
