20 children sent to hospital after crash between school bus and coal truck, police say

LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT[1]/Gray News) - Nearly two dozen students were taken to the hospital Friday afternoon following a school bus crash in eastern Kentucky.

State police said the crash on Kentucky Highway 932 involved a Letcher County school bus and a coal truck.

The school bus turned over down an embankment after contact with the coal truck, according to Kentucky State Police.

A state police spokesperson said 20 students and the bus driver were taken to the hospital.

Most were treated and released, the school district said[2].

The students were from Arlie Boggs Elementary School in Eolia.

The coal truck driver had minor injuries but did not go to the hospital, officials added.

The road was closed for several hours.
