80-year-old hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash in central Pa.

An 80-year-old Lancaster County driver suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday evening after he was involved in a crash with two other vehicles, according to local police.

The Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department (NLCRPD) responded to the intersection of Lititz Pike (State Route 501) and Millport Road around 5:50 p.m. where three vehicles were involved in a crash.

The 80-year-old Lititz man, who was driving a 2018 Hyundai Elantra, was making a left turn onto Millport Road when he drove through the path of a 2011 Kia Optima, driven by a 27-year-old Lancaster man, causing the crash, police said.

A 2020 F-150 pickup truck was also struck as a result of the initial crash, police said.

The driver of the Hyundai Elantra was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but the driver of the F-150 was not injured, according to a police report.

Police did not say if the 27-year-old Lancaster man was injured.

None of the three vehicles had any passengers at the time of the crash.

The NLCRPD Accident Reconstruction Team and the Lancaster County NW Crash Unit assisted with the investigation.
