A1 southbound closed at Colsterworth – serious collision
At 15:24 this afternoon we were advised by Lincolnshire Police that the A1 had been closed near Colsterworth due to a serious collision between a car and a HGV. Due to the nature of the collision police investigations will be taking place. The carriageway is expected to remain closed for a number of hours while this is completed.
National Highways resources have been deployed to assist emergency services.
Diversion Route(s)
Traffic is being diverted via local routes.
An emergency diversion route is available to those travelling from further afield, by following the hollow black diamond diversion symbol on local road signs:
- Leave the A1 southbound at the A607 junction at Harlaxton and turn right onto the A607 heading west.
- Follow the A607 west through Harlaxton, Croxton Kerrial and Waltham on the Wolds to Melton Mowbray.
- At the A607/A606 junction turn right onto the A606 heading east.
- Follow the A606 through Langham, Oakham, Whitwell and Empingham back to the A1 at Stamford.
- At the A606/A1 junction take the southbound entry slip road to rejoin the A1 southbound to continue your journey.
