A303 traffic chaos live: Road closed both ways after double crash and flood

Drivers face delays on the A303 near Somerset after two crashes were reported this evening (January 4). Both incidents were reported on the busy route near Mere, just across the Wiltshire border from around 6.20pm today. One lane has been closed on the road following the crashes, and flooding which is also affecting traffic.

National Highways has said Wiltshire Police officers are at the scene. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Highways said: “1 lane is closed in both directions on the #A303 in #Wiltshire between #B3092 #Mere and #B3095 due to 2 seperate collisions and flooding in the area. @wiltshirepolice are in attendance. Please take care in the area and on approach.”
