A419 Swindon crash: Police relaunch appeal after M4 junction crash
17-year-old Jamie Donnelly was killed after the Vauxhall Astra he was in crashed at Junction 15 of the M4 just before 11pm on Tuesday, January 2. It was being chased by police eastbound on the M4 before the crash. Now, police are renewing their appeal for witnesses, one week on from the crash.
“We are appealing for anybody who witnessed the collision or may have dash cam footage from either the A419 roundabout or the M4 to please get in touch with us,” said a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police. 17-year-old Jamie, who has been described by his family as a ‘cheeky chappy’ and ‘talented football[1] player’ was declared dead at the scene of the crash. Officers took one man in his 20s into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, but later released him on bail. Two other occupants of the vehicle – both women in their 20s – were also arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent but have now been released under investigation.
The force has referred itself to the IOPC over the incident.
