A46 vehicle fire live as police close busy Eastern Bypass in Coventry

A busy section of the A46 in Coventry has been closed because of an ongoing vehicle fire. The A46 Eastern Bypass is shut close to Junction 2 of the M6 while emergency services deal with the incident. Long queues have built up in the area.

Warwickshire Police says it expects the road to be closed ‘for some time’. A spokesperson said: “The A46 has been closed near to the roundabout leading to the M6 J2 while emergency services deal with an ongoing vehicle fire. “The road is likely to be closed for some time.

Please reroute accordingly.” The force has not specified which carriageway has been closed, but traffic information website Inrix says the road northbound is blocked. “A46 Coventry Eastern Bypass Northbound blocked, queueing traffic due to vehicle fire before M6 J2 (Coventry),” a post said. It is not yet known if anyone has been injured.
