Accrington bypass closed in both directions due to crash
The Accrington[1] Bypass/A56 southbound between the M65 junction 8 and the A679 for Huncoat shut closed both ways due to the incident this afternoon, Monday. According to the AA website, traffic was coping well. The incident was first reported around 4pm but it is not yet known how many vehicles were involved in the crash, if anyone is injured, or the severity of the accident.

At around 6.20pm National Highways confirmed the road had been reopened.
Police have been contacted for more information.
