The Andalusia Police Department is investigating a multi-faceted crime that occurred early Sunday morning. Lt. Jody Scott said the APD responded to a wreck on the bypass at about 4 a.m.
Sunday and was informed by a victim in the wreck that he had observed someone “trying to take the front off of the bank.” Further investigation showed that someone had tampered with the ATM at Cadence Bank. At about the same time, the APD received a report of a truck that had been left running on First Avenue at Bellwood Drive.
That truck was determined to have been stolen from River Falls Street. Initial video evidence obtained in the investigation shows that three people were involved. The suspects were masked, but appeared to be two black males and a black female.
A small black sedan might also have been used in the attempted heist.
Anyone who has information about the crime is asked to call the Andalusia Police Department at 334-222-1155.
