Attempted armed robbery in Charlton Kings

Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery from a shop in Charlton Kings earlier on Tuesday morning (January 2).

Officers were called to Lyefield Road West at around 7.30am following reports that a man had entered a store armed with a gun. He demanded money from a member of staff before leaving the store empty handed. No injuries were reported, however the member of staff was left shaken by the ordeal.

The man was described as being white, 5ft 8in in height and of a slim build. He was wearing a grey tracksuit, black jacket, black trainers, and black gloves. His face was covered, and he was carrying a white bin bag.

It is believed that he made off on foot in the direction of Brookway Road. Police attended and searched the area, including using a drone, however the offender had already fled the scene. Officers are particularly keen to speak to anybody who was driving in the area and who has dashcam footage either in the time before or after the incident itself.

Police would also like to speak to anybody else who may have additional information or CCTV footage.

Anybody with footage which they believe is relevant should contact Gloucestershire Constabulary through the website[1], quoting incident 64 of January 2.
