Authorities respond to scene of fatal plane crash in Greenfield Sunday afternoon
Police and firefighters in Greenfield are working at the scene of a fatal small-plane crash Sunday afternoon, officials said.
At about 11:45 a.m., local police and fire departments were notified of a small plane crash in the area of Country Club Road in Greenfield, according to David Procopio, a spokesperson for the Massachusetts State Police.
First responders reached the crash site, which is located in the Leyden Wildlife Area. a short time later.
Responders found "multiple occupants" of the plane and reported they suffered fatal injuries, according to Procopio.
State Police and Greenfield police patrols along with Greenfield Fire Department and EMS responders are on scene, he said.
State Police detectives and crime scene personnel are also responding, Procopio said.

The FAA, NTSB, and Massachusetts Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division have been notified and are expected to respond as well, Procopio said.
Procopio said the investigation is ongoing and did not release further information.
Greenfield police Deputy Chief William Gordon said officers are at the scene of the crash off of Oak Hill Road.
Gordon said in an email he could not comment further and directed questions to the National Transportation Safety Board.
The state Department of Fire Services is sending a unit to support firefighters at the scene, said Jake Wark, a spokesperson for the agency.
