Balaclava-clad man caught on camera sought by police in Flintshire

Police are trying to identify a balaclava-clad man suspected of attempting to break into properties in a Flintshire town. Police have stepped up patrols following a report the man tried to access homes in the Riverbank area of Bagillt. North Wales Police[1] (NWP) shared an image of the suspect taken from footage captured at a property in the area.

It shows the man wearing dark clothing and a balaclava partly covered by a hood. Officers from NWP’s North Flintshire[2] team patrolled the Riverbank area yesterday (Sunday, January 7) and will continue to do so over the coming days. They are also attempting to locate footage from CCTV cameras in the area.

Residents are being encouraged to review footage on their cameras for any unusual or suspicious activity. To maintain the integrity of the investigation, police have cautioned the public against speculating or identifying potential suspects on social media. On Facebook[5], a police spokesperson said: “The coat and balaclava are distinctive, therefore if you know who this person may be please contact us.

Do not name them in the comments please. “If you have CCTV in the area please review this and get in touch if you notice anything suspicious. We will be conducting further high visibility patrols in the area.”

As the gas can be misused for its psychoactive effects, it was reclassified as a Class C drug on November 8, 2023.

Canisters of nitrous oxide have been reported “littered” in Wepre Park. Residents have also claimed seeing empty blue nitrous canisters in other Flintshire[8] communities. Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter[9] sent twice daily to your inbox
