Bedford student on life support following winter break crash
Jan.
4–A student at Bedford High School involved in a serious crash in Goffstown last week is on life support. In an email sent to families on Tuesday, Principal Robert Jozokos confirmed that the student, who has not been named, is being kept alive to donate his organs. High school students were assembled early Tuesday morning when they arrived back from winter break to learn the news about their classmate and were told that counselors would be available and on call if needed.
“We will need to be compassionate and understanding for the students and staff who are taking this news very hard, and especially to the family and close friends,” the email read. The student’s name has not been released by police or family and the school district has not received additional information from the family, said Superintendent Michael Fournier in an email on Thursday. “Not having spoken to the family directly, my sense is that they need time and privacy,” Fournier said.
The crash happened on Thursday, Dec.
28, around 2:45 p.m. in a residential area of Shirley Hill Road in Goffstown near the intersection of John King Drive, said Goffstown police Lt.
James Mitchell.
No criminal charges have been filed and a press release with more information is pending.
