Biker who tore down M5 at eye-watering 120mph near Weston-super-Mare gets a fine
A motorcyclist who sped along the M5 at 120mph has been handed a fine. The biker admitted reaching the shocking speeds while driving on the motorway near Weston-super-Mare last October ahead of a hearing at Bath[1] Magistrates Court. On October 19, 2023, ASPolice Roads Policing (RPU), of Avon and Somerset Police, shared video footage of the biker travelling at high speeds on the motorway – one officer in the video can be heard saying the bike rider hit 118mph.
The biker eventually makes their way to the hard shoulder, slowing to a stop. An update shared to the same account on social media has revealed the motorcyclist admitted the speeding offence by post and was handed a GBP369 fine, with six points on their driving licence. They will also have to pay court costs of GBP110 and a victim surcharge of GBP148.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter[2], ASPolice RPU said: “Court outcome for this excess speed on the M5 motorway (J21-22 WSM ) from last Oct where rider reached speeds up to 120MPH.
“Heard at Bath Magistrates Court last week.
Rider pleaded guilty by post and received: 6 points GBP369 Fine GBP110 Costs GBP148 VS.”
