Boy, 16, arrested after reported police chase ends in collision in Norton

A 16-year-old boy was arrested following a reported police chase that ended following a collision. Police officers had spotted a suspected stolen vehicle at around 9.15pm on Monday, January 15, in Stockton[1]. The vehicle reportedly failed to stop for them and collided with two vehicles before it came to a stop on Beaconsfield Road in Norton[2].

Two males reportedly made off from the scene. A 16-year-old male was detained with officers assisted by the police helicopter overhead. The male was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving.

He was bailed pending further enquiries. The full statement from Cleveland Police[3] says: “Whilst on patrol, officers spotted a suspected stolen vehicle at around 9.15pm on Monday, January 15, in Stockton. The vehicle reportedly failed to stop for officers and collided with two vehicles before it came to a stop on Beaconsfield Road in Norton.

“Two males reportedly made off from the scene and, with the help of the National Police Air Service, a 16-year-old male was detained. The male was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving. He was bailed pending further enquiries.”
