Car driver killed in fiery collision with tractor trailer in Danbury

BREWSTER, NY (WFSB) - The driver of a car was killed when the vehicle collided with a tractor trailer in front of an egg farm near the Connecticut border.

It happened shortly before 7 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Brewster, NY Fire Department. The Danbury, CT Fire Department responded.

Brewster firefighters said the crash happened in front of the Croton Egg Farm in Brewster, on Route 6 in the area of Dingle Ridge Road.

They said the car hit the tractor trailer as the tractor trailer driver pulled out of the egg farm, they said. The vehicle ended up under the tractor trailer and caught fire.

Danbury firefighters helped extinguish the flames.

"Although the truck's driver was uninjured, sadly, the driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene," the Brewster Fire Department said.

The crash closed Route 6 for a time.

The crash remained under investigation.
