Car stolen from Bingham crashes on Crown Island Nottingham – police dog assists arrests
Two teenage burglary suspects were tracked down by a police dog after crashing a stolen car. Officers were called to Crown Island, Nottingham, around 4.35am on 17 January following reports that a vehicle had collided with traffic barriers and two people had fled the scene. Response officers joined PD Max and his handler in an immediate search of the area.
They located two suspects who were attempting to get into a taxi nearby and detained them. Checks revealed the car was registered to an address in Bingham.
The car keys had been taken from inside the home and the owners discovered their car was missing from the driveway when they were awoken by officers. Two boys, aged 16 and 17, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary.
They remain in police custody. Detective Sergeant Nathan Bingham, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our team of police dogs and their expertly trained handlers are an invaluable resource for the force, and this was another good example of a police dog showing his skills and tracking down two suspects.
“Burglary is an invasive crime which can be extremely upsetting for victims so I am pleased these two suspects are in custody. “Our investigation remains ongoing and anyone with any information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 49 of 17 January 2023, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.” Today’s other early news
