The force said the suspected arson happened in Meadow Road, Bushey, at around 2am on Friday, December 29.
No injuries were reported, but the front windows and some wiring were damaged, according to police. Detective Constable Gemma Haines, from the Borehamwood local crime unit, said: “Our enquiries are continuing, and I am appealing for any witnesses to please come forward. “Thankfully, the occupant of the caravan was uninjured and was able to use a neighbour’s hose to extinguish the fire before emergency services arrived.
“If you saw someone acting suspiciously in the area around this time, or were driving in the area and have a dash cam fitted, please email me at [email protected][1].” No arrests have been made. Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service sent one crew from Watford at 2.13am, but the blaze was out when they arrived.
Police were already present and investigating, a fire service spokesperson said.
