Caravan torched at popular seaside park as police launch probe into its ‘significant damage’
An investigation is underway after a caravan was destroyed during an early morning fire. Emergency services were called to Crimdon Dene Holiday Park on the outskirts of Hartlepool[1] in the early hours of Tuesday morning. It was reported that the property at the caravan site, owned run by Parkdean Resorts, went up in flames at around 4am and the static home appears to have been gutted by the blaze.
Photographs of the remains of the caravan look like a neighbouring property also suffered some damage due to the heat and smoke from the fire. A spokesperson for Durham Police said: "Emergency services attended a fire at Crimdon Dene Caravan Park at around 4am on Tuesday, January 9. Significant damage was caused to a caravan.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances of the fire." A County Durham and Darlington[2] Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 3.36am on Tuesday (January 9), we were called to a report of a caravan fire at Crimdon Dene Caravan Park. "Two crews from Peterlee attended to tackle to the blaze and left the scene shortly before 4.50am.
We are supporting Durham Constabulary as part of a joint investigation into the cause of the fire."
A spokesperson for Crimdon Dene Holiday Park said: "There was an isolated incident at the park and we are helping the emergency services with their enquiries.
As this is an ongoing investigation, we can't comment further at this time."
