Crash on A68 in Tow Law sees Mercedes left without its roof

Emergency services were called to the A68 near Tow Law at around 2.50pm, following reports of a collision on the stretch of road. The car left the A68 during the collision (Image: SARAH CALDECOTT) While Durham Police haven’t yet confirmed certain details of the incident, the fire service and ambulance service have noted that there were no injuries during the collision – but someone did need rescuing from the scene.

A spokesperson from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said: “Shortly before 2.50pm today (Tuesday), we received a report of a collision on the A68, between Harperley and the junction near Tow Law. “Two crews, one from Cook and a further from Bishop Auckland, were despatched to assist with a rescue from a vehicle. “Crews left the scene shortly after 3.40pm.”

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We were called to a road traffic collision today (16 January) at 14:09pm on the A66 in Tow Law, Bishop Auckland.

We dispatched one ambulance crew to the scene, no further treatment was needed.”
