Cumbrian drivers warned to take care amid ice warning on county roads
A yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued by the Met Office across Cumbria and parts of England, with the warning being expected to last from Tuesday, January 16 until Thursday, January 18. The warning means further snow showers and some ice are likely to continue to bring disruption to travel. What to Expect
- Possible travel delays on roads stranding some vehicles and passengers
- Possible delays or cancellations to rail and air travel
- Untreated pavements and cycle paths might be impassable
- A chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
- Some rural communities could become cut off
A Cumbria police spokesman said: “Icy conditions and wintery weather expected overnight and into tomorrow.
“If you need to drive, give yourself plenty of time to prepare your vehicle and can see clearly before setting off.
Take extra care on the roads.
The best drivers always drive to the road conditions.”
