Daughter leads tributes to ‘amazing’ dad killed in North Staffordshire crash
Police have named the 62-year-old man who died in a Christmas Eve North Staffordshire smash. Charalambos Nicolaou's grieving daughter has paid tribute to her 'amazing' dad after he was pronounced dead at the scene of the tragedy in Draycott. Emergency services had been called out to Uttoxeter Road - near the junction with Cheadle Road - at around 8.45pm on December 24 to reports of a 'serious collision'. As reported by StokeonTrentLive[1] two other people were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital[2] following the incident while sadly Charalambos, from Cyprus, passed away at the scene.
His grieving daughter says her dad had become her 'whole world' following the death of her mum. Now she has urged anyone with information to come forward as Staffordshire Police[3] continue to investigate the fatal collision. He was an amazing father, brother and a kind-hearted person that everyone loved.
"He was my whole world, especially after my mother's death years ago. My father did not deserve to leave this world the way he did. He was taken away from me in a horrible way.
"Me and my family are devastated and wished my dad was still here with us. Christmas was ruined and will never feel great again. If there is anyone that might have seen anything or has cameras that could help us find justice for my wonderful dad please contact the police."
The collision occurred in DraycottThe two-vehicle collision involved a Vauxhall Vectra and a Hyundai. West Midlands Ambulance Service[6] sent four ambulances, three paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic and a BASICS doctor to the scene.
Mark Plimmer, aged 27, of Blythe Bridge, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Plimmer is due to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on January 29. Witnesses should call 101 and quote incident 639 of December 24.
