Defense: Kayla Montgomery played larger role in disposing of Harmony’s remains

Lawyers for Adam Montgomery, accused of murdering his daughter Harmony in 2019, say police have downplayed the role his now-estranged wife played in disposing of the little girl’s remains months after her death.

In a court filing, public defenders Caroline Smith and James Brooks say a police affidavit by a Manchester detective portrays Kayla Montgomery as “a passive and innocent bystander” to Adam Montgomery’s efforts to dispose of his daughter’s corpse inside an apartment at 644 Union St. in February 2020.
