Demolition plan revealed for parts of Nuneaton college campus
A demolition plan has been revealed for parts of a Nuneaton[1] college campus. It would see the buildings associated with the horticultural curriculum at North Warwickshire[2] and South Leicester College’s Hinckley Road site bulldozed. This includes the former nursery building and associated structures, motor vehicle building, staff lounge and facilities building.
This is a key part of the wider plans to build 145 places to live[3] on the campus. As well as the new homes, there would also be a new all-weather 3G sports pitch. There are also proposals to for a new state-of-the-art engineering and automotive skills including five brand-new workshops..
One of the proposal documents explains: “The application includes the proposed demolition of a number of buildings at the college campus. This includes the demolition of buildings associated with the horticultural curriculum, which have not been used for five years due to a lack of demand for this training provision, as well as the demolition of a former nursery building (and associated structures) with the nursery relocated and the building therefore standing vacant. “In addition the motor vehicle building, staff lounge and facilities building as outlined on the proposed demolitions layout are also proposed.” It goes on to state: “The demolition works to which the prior notifications relates, will enable the residential development, alongside the provision of the 3G sports pitch and wider college improvements in line with the approved planning application.”
