Dramatic aftermath of crash as three teenagers rushed to hospital

Motorists have been warned to ‘take care’ by police after three teenagers were hurt in a crash. It comes after a car collided with a 4×4 vehicle which was towing a trailer on the A53 in Staffordshire[1]. One of the teens was seriously hurt in the smash which happened at around 2.40pm on Wednesday, January 3.

A second youngster sustained ‘potentially serious injuries’ and a third was also hurt. All three were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital following the crash near the junction of Park Lane and the A53 Newcastle Road at Ashley. The other driver was assessed at the scene but did not need medical assistance, StokeonTrentLive reports.[2]

Police Roads Policing Unit issued a warning on X following the crash. A spokesperson said: “Injury Collision on the A53 Newcastle Road towards Loggerheads. Three injured and taken to hospital.

It needed the road closed for some time. Please take care when you drive. A moment not thinking can lead to a lot of consequence.”

The Midlands Air Ambulance was sent to the scene but was not needed. A West Midlands Ambulance Service[5] spokesman added: “On arrival, ambulance staff found a car that had suffered significant damage. The 4×4 also had front end damage.

“There were three teenagers in the car. The first has suffered serious injuries. After being assessed by the doctor from the aircraft, he was taken on blue lights to the Major Trauma Centre at Royal Stoke University Hospital.

“A second teenager has suffered potentially serious injuries. He was assessed at the scene along with the third teenager who had less serious injuries. They were both taken to the same hospital.

“The driver of the 4×4 was assessed but was uninjured and was discharged at the scene.”
