Dramatic video is as warning to all drivers after lorry crash on M6
Dramatic footage[1] shows the moment a lorry folded in half as it crashed into a wall on the M6 due to a blown tyre. The video captures the moment the lorry smashed through a barrier on the M6 in an horrific crash which saw the trucker escape with their life. A tyre fault sent the HGV careering through a barrier on the southbound carriageway near junction seven, for Great Barr, at around 2.45pm on Thursday, January 11.
Police confirmed a tyre on the HGV had blown out causing the vehicle to hurtle towards the wall beyond the hard shoulder. The driver of the articulated vehicle miraculously survived the crash[2], reports BirminghamLive[3]. He luckily sustained only minor injuries, paramedics said, but was taken to hospital for further checks. National Highways West[6] Midlands said the crash caused an oil spillage. Three lanes on the major motorway were closed for more than 12 hours while a recovery operation took place. Early this morning, January 12, the motorway reopened. Central Motorway Police Group this morning posted the shocking footage of the lorry crashing on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter[7]. The force wrote: "Yesterday, a HGV leaving the motorway, just past Junction 7 of the M6 south, as a result of a tyre blow out. "Driver was very fortunate to get out alive with minor injuries. Please check your tyres regularly for yours and everyone's else's safety." One motorist who witnessed the crash said: "I actually saw this happen on the other side of the road. There was an almighty screech and then the lorry crashed into the fence and down the embankment. Such a scary thing to see!"
