Driver rushed to hospital after Harrogate Road crash
A driver has been rushed to hospital following a collision with a parked vehicle on the A61 Harrogate Road in Alwoodley on Friday afternoon (January 12). The crash happened shortly after 12.30pm close to the junction with Sandhill Drive. Images from the scene show the red Vauxhall completely wrecked following the crash with the boot completely ripped off.
The road was closed in the northbound direction while emergency services, including police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service[1], attended, causing 'heavy traffic' congestion in the area[2]. The road reopened around three hours later. A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police[4] said: "Police were called at 12.35pm by the ambulance service to reports a car had collided with a stationary vehicle on Harrogate Road.
"Emergency services attended and the driver was taken to hospital."
