Drug drive arrest after a serious crash on the A49
All three emergency services were called to the junction of the A49 and Marsh Lane[1] shortly before 9.10am this morning (January 15). Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, two Mercia Accident Rescue Service BASICS doctors and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford all attended. ALSO READ:
“On arrival, we discovered two patients,” said a spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service. “A man was found to have suffered serious injuries in the collision and received specialist trauma care at the scene before being airlifted to Southmead Hospital, Bristol. “A woman was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Hereford County Hospital.”
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said that a man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
The A49 is still closed both ways, with accident investigation work now taking place.
According to traffic monitoring site, Inrix, there is very slow traffic between the turn offs for Symonds Yat and Wormelow respectively.
