Elderly cyclist mowed down by car on busy A82 as road closed for six hours
An elderly cyclist has been left with serious injuries after being mowed down by a car on the A82[1] – which was closed for over six hours following the crash. The 65-year-old man was hit by a black Mitsubishi Outlander at around 11.45am on Thursday, January 11. The collision took place on the Renton bypass, approximately 1.6 miles south of the Stoneymollan Roundabout at Balloch.

The driver of the Mitsubushi, a 75-year-old man, escaped uninjured.
The road was closed southbound until around 6.15pm – over six hours – to allow for a police investigation to take place. Police Scotland are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch. Sergeant Archie McGuire of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our investigation into this incident is ongoing, and I would urge anyone who witnessed it or has any other information to come forward.
