Elderly man dies after vehicle ‘lost control’ and struck parked car

An 84-year-old man died after his vehicle “lost control” and struck a parked car in Glasgow. Officers confirmed that the fatal crash happened around 10.35am in Yorkhill on Thursday, January 11. Police said the man was driving a Peugeot 2008 and believe the car “lost control” and struck a parked Suzuki SX4.

Emergency services attended the scene and the 84-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he died on Saturday. A spokesperson for Police Scotland sent condolences to the man’s family and asked anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash to come forward. Sergeant Ally Wright said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.

“As our enquiries continue to establish the circumstances surrounding this crash, I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

“If you were in the area of Carfrae Street around the time of the crash and saw this car, or if you have any dashcam footage, please contact us as soon as possible.

“Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 0926 of January, 11.”
