Elderly pedestrian seriously injured after crash near Lingfield

An elderly man was struck by a car and was rushed to hospital this morning (Monday, 15 January). At 9.18am, the 70-year-old was involved in a crash near Lingfield when he was hit by a black Vauxhall Astra. Surrey Police[1] have now launched a witness appeal, looking for those who were nearby or might have dashcam footage.

Shortly after the incident, police closed the road. Blackberry Lane, where the crash occurred, was closed from Blackberry Road to Falcourt Road. Since the incident, the road remains closed into the afternoon of January 15 as police[2] conduct investigations.

The man who was struck by the car, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His current condition is not yet known, South East Coast Ambulance Service treated him at the scene before taking him to hospital. No arrests have been made, the driver of the black Vauxhall Astra is working with the police.

Surrey Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Felcourt this morning (15 January). Officers were called to Blackberry Lane at around 9:18am following reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a black Vauxhall Astra between the junctions of Felcourt Road and Blackberry Road. “A 79-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the car is assisting officers with their enquiries. No arrests have been made yet. “Blackberry Lane is expected to remain closed this afternoon.
