Emergency services on scene of motorcyclist collision in Ipswich Road
Collision - police closed the road in both directions at about 6.30pm (Image: Daniel Rees, Newsquest) EMERGENCY services have rushed to the aid of a motorcyclist who has been involved in a serious collision in Ipswich Road, Colchester. The incident took place at about 6pm when a motorcyclist is understood to have come off their vehicle about 50 metres away from the junction between Ipswich Road and Upland Drive.
Ipswich-bound traffic was stopped at about 6.20pm, at which point there were two ambulances and one police car at the scene. A second police car arrived about ten minutes later as officers then cordoned off the road in both directions.

Debris was scattered across the road, and the motorbike, which had 'L' plates on, was left lying against a wall. Some residents came outside their homes to see what had happened, and police officers spoke to members of the public. With Ipswich Road closed in both directions, much of the Colchester-bound traffic took a detour along Upland Drive and St Christopher Road.
