‘Excellent’ turnout at Oakworth event in memory of air crew
Oakworth Village Society does a great job in keeping the memories of those who died alive. And it was great to see in attendance representatives from the Canadian and British air forces as well as cadets, the Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, the Lord Mayor, town mayor, the MP, the police, Royal British Legion, district and town councillors and relatives of those lost. Thanks also to the Rev Jemma Sander-Heys for leading the service, the Oakworth Community Trust for enabling the use of the village hall, Linda Herd for a cracking spread, my colleague Councillor Mark Curtis for working with me to fund the food out of our ward development fund, all those in attendance and everyone who volunteered.
A touching service indeed.
Oakworth remembers.
