Family pays tribute after man died in a crash on the M27
Police[1] were called 4.44pm on Friday, January 5, to a report of a collision between a blue Nissan Juke and a grey Ford Focus on the hard shoulder of the M27 eastbound, between junctions 11 and 12. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services the driver of the Nissan, 60-year-old Stephen Lee from Southsea, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have now paid the following tribute to him: “Firstly, we would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the kind members of the public who came to Steve’s assistance and comforted him on Friday night.
“Also, we would like to thank the emergency services who did everything possible to save Steve’s life.” They added: “The entire family have been left shocked and heartbroken by Steve’s sudden tragic loss. He was a loving husband, stepfather, and grandfather, as well as a much-loved brother and uncle.
“Steve will be sorely missed by every one of us as well as his friends and work colleagues. “Steve, you will remain forever in our hearts.” A spokesperson for Hampshire Police commented: “Officers investigating this incident would like to hear from anyone who was on the M27 at the time and saw what happened, or saw the vehicles involved in the moments leading up to the incident.
“We’re particularly keen to hear from anyone with dash cam footage that may have captured something.
“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting the reference 44240006859.”
