A Ferrari driver crashed the supercar into a bollard on one of Britain’s most affluent streets on New Years Day, with thousands of pounds worth of damage caused.

The car, worth GBP300,000, was said to be going above the 20mph speed limit on Park Lane, Mayfair, when it spun off the road and hit a bollard on January 1.

It ended up backwards and hit a lamp post at around 7pm.

The driver was not the owner of the black and yellow car, which had its licence plates removed and placed inside the car.

The front and rear of the Qatari registered car were severely damaged – estimated to cost around GBP100,000 to repair.

The Met Police[2] have confirmed it collided with the bollard and say there haven’t been any serious injuries.

The day before that crash occurred, another Ferrari – worth GBP186,000 – slammed into a tree[3] when trying to overtake an off-duty police officer.

The luxury sports car – thought to be a Roma model – was left wedged between tree trunks with its bonnet hanging off after it slid into the patch of woodland in bad weather.

The driver had been heading along the M40 Southbound near Warwick, West Midlands on New Year’s Eve when they drove past the officer ‘at speed’.

But the wet conditions combined with the motor’s powerful V8 engine meant the motor – which can hit speeds of almost 200mph – skidded off the road.

Remarkably, the driver walked away with just minor injuries after their airbag deployed – and police confirmed no one else was involved.

Warwickshire Police said: ‘The driver of this Ferrari is not having a great start to his New Year’s Eve.

‘Earlier this afternoon the driver overtook an off-duty police officer at speed on the M40 Southbound near Warwick.

‘The driver lost control on the Wet Road surface and crashed off the road into trees.

‘Thankfully, the driver walked away with minor injuries and no other persons or vehicles were involved.

‘If you are out on the roads tonight please take care, there are still localised areas of flooding and surface water in places.’

Social media users who spotted the photos of the wrecked luxury vehicle were quick to poke fun at the driver’s misfortune.

One wrote: ‘Can’t park there mate’ and another added: ‘that should just buff out mate’.
