Flowers and tribute left after men die in A44 Egdon crash
West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses following the two-vehicle collision on the A44 near Egdon. A touching note alongside at least six bunches of flowers on a grass verge between the B4084 Egdon Lane junction and the turn to Peopleton was left by ‘Jelly’ to ‘Alex’. It read: “RIP Alex.
You brought so much happiness and light into this world and I can’t believe you have gone. “You were an amazing friend to everyone you knew, even me at one of my lowest points. “I’ll always be proud to call you my friend and I will carry my memories of you forever.
“So much love to all your family during this time – Jelly.” The tragic crash happened at about 12.25am on Sunday involving a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a black Audi A3. The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers from the Audi were taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital and treated for minor injuries. A police spokesperson said: “We’d like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed or has dash-cam footage of either the collision itself or either vehicle in minutes before the collision.” Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service firefighters were also called to the scene with drivers asked by police to find an alternative route during the road closure.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered four patients. One of whom, a man who was driving one of the cars, was found to have suffered serious injuries in the incident. “Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“A second man, also a driver, was found to be in a critical condition. Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts, he was also confirmed dead at the scene. “A further man and a woman were assessed and treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.”
