Gloucestershire: School bus catches fire on B4215 in Highleadon

Children have been led to safety after the school bus taking them home caught fire. The coach was transporting pupils on the B4215 in Highleadon, Gloucestershire, when a fire broke out shortly before 16:00 GMT. All of the pupils and the vehicle’s driver were able to get off the bus unharmed.

Fire crews from Gloucester and Cheltenham were called to put out the flames. A Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We received the first call at 15:49 this afternoon, to say a bus had caught fire. “Two fire engines – one from Gloucester and one from Cheltenham – attended, and traffic was diverted by police while crews put out the fire.

“No one was injured and the road has since reopened.” The school which the children attend has not yet been confirmed and the cause of the fire is unknown. A replacement bus was called out to take the pupils home.
