Islanders Invited To Take Part In Live Q & A Stream Event With Police And Crime Commissioner

The Police and Crime Commissioner, Donna Jones, is inviting the public to have their say in her latest Q & A session with the Chief Constable Scott Chilton. COPS (Commissioner’s Oversight of Policing Services) will be live-streamed across three Facebook pages – the PCC’s, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary – at 6pm on Tuesday 23 January 2024. People can pre-submit their questions ahead of the event or ask questions during the live session.

The PCC has a statutory role to hold the Chief Constable to account on the performance of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary on behalf of the public, and this live social media event gives a platform for such oversight on a regular basis. PCC Donna Jones said: “My role as your Commissioner is to be that critical link between the police and the public making sure that an effective and efficient police service is being delivered.

“These live COPS events are the perfect opportunity to provide this valuable scrutiny and I’m looking forward to putting your questions to the Chief Constable. “Shoplifting, rural crime and the 101 service all have a profound impact on residents, business and communities across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight which is why we’re going to focus on these three in detail for the first COPS of 2024.” Questions can be submitted in advance via an online form at COPS: LIVE Q&A January 2024[1].

A recording will be made available to view for anyone who can’t watch the event live.

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner will also endeavour to respond to all the questions submitted.
