Emmerdale: Heath is given CPE
Emmerdale[1] fans will be left teary next week as Heath Hope’s emotional funeral takes place in the village. The ITV[2] soap was full of heartbreak on New Year’s Day as teenager Heath died after joyriding in a car with his twin sister Cathy and Angelica.
The teenagers had been desperate to go to a New Year’s Eve party out of the village but couldn’t get a lift and their dad Bob Hope refused to pay for a taxi. The trio were left bored at the B&B’s party so decided to take matters into their own hands, stealing Wendy’s car to joyride to the party.
Cathy was driving the car as she took the backroads so they wouldn’t be caught but Heath and Angelica complained it was taking too long, encouraging Cathy to speed up. At the same time, Wendy noticed her car was missing and April Windsor, who refused to get in the car with her friends, told concerned Bob what had happened.

Wendy and Bob then went out in search of the teenagers, where their worst fears had come true. The duo found Wendy’s car crashed at the side of the road with a bloodied Cathy and Angelica on the side.
Realising Heath was missing they ran to the car to find him trapped and after freeing him, Wendy attempted CPR to no avail as later in the hospital it was revealed that Heath had tragically died. Since the crash, both Cathy and Angelica have claimed the other person was driving with the village left torn over who to believe. In upcoming scenes, mourning father Bob tells Wendy that he’s refusing to see Cathy in order to protect her from himself.
The next day, Brenda’s livid when Bob continues to avoid a heartbroken Cathy, she gives him both barrels, telling him he needs to step up and support his also grieving daughter. Clearly in torment, Bob mulls over Brenda’s words. Later, it’s the day of Heath’s funeral and Bob’s distraught to think Cathy’s still lying as he crumbles at the prospect of the day.
As the funeral looms over the entire village, stirring up old devastating memories. Wendy tries to console a distraught Bob but he decides that he can’t face it and refuses to attend the funeral, preferring to be alone with his grief. In a heartbreaking moment, Eric breaks the news to Cathy that Bob won’t be attending the funeral.
Although she’s gutted, Cathy puts her feelings aside, determined to do right by her brother.

In heartbreaking scenes, the village turns out to pay their respects to Heath, meanwhile, inside, a broken Bob is consumed by grief.
During the funeral, Cathy begins to buckle under the emotional weight of seeing Heath’s coffin but is grateful to find a supportive Bob by her side.
Later, Cathy’s broken to realise that dad Bob still doesn’t believe her over the night of the crash. Cathy stands her ground, stating that she won’t move home if Bob can’t believe her. Cathy is supported by her friends as an emotional Bob exits.
Meanwhile, over in the graveyard, Angelica is overwhelmed with guilt. Will she finally confess that she was driving the car the day Heath died? And how will Bob feel to not have believed his daughter?
