Live A1307 traffic updates today as crash between A14 and Huntingdon leaves road closed

A major Cambridgeshire A-road remains closed following a crash today (Wednesday, January 10). The westbound carriageway of the A1307 is shut between Junction 24 of the A14 and the A1096 junction (St Ives). The crash and closure were first reported shortly before 6am.

A number of vehicles are reported to be involved and traffic[1] is queueing in the area. A National Highways spokesperson said: “The A1307 in Cambridgeshire is closed westbound between the A14 J24 and the A1096/B1040 near Huntingdon due to a multi-vehicle collision. Emergency services are in attendance, including Cambridgeshire Police.

Long delays on the eastbound carriageway on approach to the collision.” A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services are currently dealing with a multi-vehicle collision on the A1307 at Swavesey. Police were called at 6.55am this morning (Wednesday) with reports of a collision involving seven vehicles on the westbound carriageway.

“It is believed there are no serious injuries to any of the occupants of the vehicles. The westbound carriageway has been closed between Swavesey and Fenstanton and is likely to remain closed for several hours while recovery takes place and the road is gritted. “Reports of a separate three-vehicle collision on the eastbound carriageway came in just after 8am, however the road has now been cleared.

Due to the weather conditions and icy road surfaces across the county, motorists are advised to take extra care and drive to the conditions.”
