LIVE: A37 near Somerset closed after crash
A key road into Somerset has been closed this morning because of a crash. The A37 has been shut both ways between Dorchester and Yeovil since around 6am. Dorset Police officers are at the scene and drivers are urged to avoid the area.
A spokesperson said: "Officers are currently at the scene of a collision on the A37 Long Ash Lane near Maiden Newton. The road is closed between Dorchester and Yeovil. " We would ask motorists to please seek alternative routes - thank you for your patience and understanding."
Traffic monitoring website Inrix added: "A37 Long Ash Lane in both directions blocked, queueing traffic due to an accident from Drift Road to Chalmington Turnoff.
Affecting traffic between Dorchester and Yeovil."
