Live: A38 car fire adds to Plymouth traffic problems

Drivers in and around Plymouth face major delays this afternoon, after a car reportedly burst into flames on the A38 just outside of the city. One lane eastbound is closed near Ivybridge, traffic monitor Inrix has reported. Outland Road in Plymouth is also partially blocked following crash this afternoon (January 16) between a car and a truck.

The A386 Outland Road is blocked eastbound but traffic is said to be coping well. Roads and traffic monitoring website, Inrix, says: “A386 Outland Road Eastbound partially blocked due to accident, two vehicles involved near Segrave Road. Traffic is coping well.”

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said two lanes had been blocked but only one lane remains closed into the city. No injuries have been reported Further delays have been reported on the A38 at Ivybridge, where a car has reportedly burst into flames this afternoon.

According to Inrix, traffic on the A38 has eased shortly after 5pm, with Outland Road clear at around 6pm.
